Intense or throbbing tooth pain often signals an infection or abscess. Don't wait — this can spread quickly and become a serious medical issue.
Time is critical. A knocked-out adult tooth that is kept moist and treated within 30–60 minutes has the best chance of being saved. Call us immediately.
A fractured tooth can expose sensitive nerves and become infected if untreated. We'll assess the crack and recommend the best repair — from bonding to a crown.
A pus-filled pocket at the root of a tooth is a serious infection requiring immediate treatment. Call us right away — or go to an emergency room if you have facial swelling or difficulty swallowing.
A lost crown or filling leaves your tooth exposed and vulnerable. We can usually re-cement or replace it quickly to relieve sensitivity and prevent further decay.
Cuts or lacerations to the gums, tongue, or cheeks that won't stop bleeding. Apply gentle pressure and call us immediately if bleeding is significant.
While you're on your way to our office, these steps can protect your tooth and reduce pain.

Handle by the crown only. Rinse gently if dirty. Try to reinsert in the socket or keep moist in milk or saliva. Come in immediately — every minute counts.
Rinse with warm salt water. Take over-the-counter pain reliever (not aspirin on the gum — this can burn tissue). Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek for swelling.
Apply firm, steady pressure with clean gauze or a cloth. If bleeding doesn't slow after 15–20 minutes, go to an emergency room. For manageable bleeding, call us.
A dental emergency is any situation causing severe pain, bleeding, swelling, or that puts a tooth at risk of being lost. This includes: severe toothaches, knocked-out or cracked teeth, lost fillings or crowns, dental abscesses, soft tissue injuries, and broken dental appliances causing pain.
Act fast — time is critical. Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it with water if dirty, and place it back in the socket if possible. If you can't, keep it moist in milk or saliva. Call us immediately at 801-756-7211 and come in right away. Teeth replanted within 30–60 minutes have the best chance of survival.
